Greetings from Your colleagues ECF members Latvian Bicycle information centre (Riga, Latvia, www.bicycle.lv).

The reason why we are writing to You is that we thought perhaps You might be interested in coming to Latvia for some days in late May, meeting us, seeing our city Riga, our work here and sharing the experience. Therefore we invite You to come and take part in the biggest Latvian uncommercial cycling tourism event Cycling Day & Night in Kuldiga 2012 which will take place in the town of Kuldiga on May 26st 2012. Information about Cycling Day Kuldiga 2012:

The Cycling Day is organized to encourage cycling as an alternative means of transportation in Latvia and to raise awareness for more safety on the roads. Simultaneously the event will promote the need for an active lifestyle for all and, by cycling in the surroundings of Kuldiga, underline the beauty of Latvia in general and of Kuldiga in particular. And of course for all the cyclists it is a great opportunity to join in a common event right in the beginning of the new active cycling season in Latvia, meet new friends and spend a great time together!

The event has a slogan "Europe, Kuldiga Thinks Green" and one of event`s goals is to draw attention to the environmental challenges that we are all facing and to the role that Europe is playing to solve them.

There will be several different distances to be cycled in Day Ride and also a Night Ride which will start at midnight and like always promises to be very scenic and picturesque. Kuldiga Cycling Day&Night has been growing rapidly year by year and this year we expect over 2000 participants at the event (in 2011 there were 2058 cyclists). And Kuldiga Night Ride is the all-time biggest registered night ride in Latvian history, for example in 2011 there were 523 cyclists participating. Just like in all the previous years, the tour most likely will receive wide media attention in Latvia and Baltic States.

It would be really interesting to meet colleagues from another country and share our common experience. Of course, Kuldiga event will last for 1 day only but if You are coming we will organize some other activities for You different excursions in Riga and Jurmala, along the coast of the Baltic Sea and other events as well.
